What is Maple Finance?

Maple Finance is an onchain asset management and digital asset lending platform built around institutional credit markets. The protocol originates fixed-rate, overcollateralized loans to vetted institutional borrowers and channels the resulting yield to lenders through a set of structured pools. Maple positions itself as infrastructure for capital allocators rather than a retail money market, with underwriting, risk assessment, and loan servicing handled by the platform and its delegated pool operators. The protocol operates across Ethereum and Solana, with aggregate protocol value locked in the multi-billion-dollar range across both deployments. Alongside the core lending stack, Maple offers yield-bearing stablecoin products under the syrupUSDC and syrupUSDT brands, which sit on top of the same institutional lending engine and are distinct from the SYRUP token itself.

What is $SYRUP?

SYRUP is the native governance and utility token of the Maple Finance protocol. It was introduced in November 2024 as the successor to the legacy MPL token and was deployed as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum. Holders use SYRUP to vote on protocol decisions and parameter changes, and can stake the token to participate in protocol incentive programs. SYRUP is also tied to Maple's revenue model: a portion of protocol revenue, set at 25%, is directed toward SYRUP buybacks, linking token demand to the performance of the underlying lending business. While the broader Maple protocol operates on both Ethereum and Solana, the SYRUP token contract itself is deployed on Ethereum.
